Subject:
The Sad Truth Of What Greek Life Has Become

Poster Message:
After being involved in Greek Life for the past two years i have noticed that this isn't what I was being sold going through recruitment. If we wanted to sell it more accurately it would be something along the lines of: This organization is for people who are ready to relive an experience very similar to high school with major clicks and bullying, not only in person bullying but anonymous bullying online. These clicks aren't only sororities who claim different letters but inside their own organizations as well. As i'm writing this, I am very sad because greek life was supposed to be a great way to make new friends and connections and be a helping member of the community, but as a member of greek life you will be receiving much more enemies and and hate than love. this environment IS NOT a supportive one. It is full of snakes and people who think they're too good for each other. It is filled with people who pretend they are friends and then instead turn around and air out each others business and darkest secrets as if it was their place to share it. If you are looking for sisters or people to be there for you in the good and bad times. Do not look for it in greek life, the sad truth is that you will only find a handful of people who are genuine and really care about what greek life was created to do in the first place, and from what i've heard these people are getting tired of it too. it is sad to watch. i find it crazy that i've paid so many dues to be a part of this sad organization. Let's be real. Do you guys even understand what you are raising money for with these philo events or are you just having fun and trying to look cool? Here are a couple examples: 1.)KD shake down being the most recent. This event is all supposed to be in the name of raising money to prevent CHILD ABUSE IN AMERICA. READ THAT AGAIN. With every year they hold this event the amount of money they raise shrinks. For reference this is a quote from the UCF crowd change website. "In 2023, from the support of our generous sponsors and UCF organizations, UCF Kappa Delta provided hundreds of school supplies to children in our local community as well donating to PCAA and the Children Home Society of Florida. It was a sold out event raising over $161,000 and the event was covered by the UCF news stations and streamed live online." This year, they raised around "$127,225k+ for Prevent Child Abuse America & Children's Home Society." (taken from their most recent instagram post) To put this into perspective that is more than $30,000 less than last year. Not only that but can you imagine how much of that money actually goes to these organizations. Only a percentage because the sorority needs money to pay for what it costs to throw such a big event. I cant say this for sure but i imagine they only donate the PROFIT they make from this event because why would they but themselves in financial stress to help people who don't even have the means to help themselves? I love attending this event but this year when i went it just felt wrong to watch and notice what this greek life has become. people were more worried about winning their table at bounce and bottles of alcohol than the cause at hand. Think about it. Is the sorority funding those tables with their dues or with the money that was supposedly supposed to be for PCAA & CHS. 2.) KNIGHT THON From my research this year they raised about $600 more than last year which is great thing. Continued below...
