Poster Message:
Chi Omega Nationals Dear Sisters, Today, with the announcement of the Supreme Court's decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a wide range of emotions are being expressed across the country and within our Chi Omega community. As you well know, Chi Omega was founded to be a supportive network of like-hearted Sisters even when there is deep division of opinions. Now is a time to place friendship and support at the center of our Sisterhood as each of us processes her own feelings and experiences, some of which are deeply personal. With nearly 400,000 initiated Sisters from all walks of life, Chi Omega will never be able to represent one, single viewpoint, nor will our organization ever be a single-issue advocate. The reality is that our Fraternity is comprised of women who hold beliefs along a wide and complex spectrum. A time such as this can be challenging for an organization that welcomes women of varied backgrounds, perspectives, and beliefs. It is worth remembering, and celebrating, that in 1895 our four female founders, each unique and remarkable, came to Chi Omega with a symphony of differing interests, experiences, and perspectives seeking a female space of safety, encouragement, community, and Friendship. True friendship allows for a diversity of thought, exhibits mutual respect, and is committed to basic civility. As our Symphony wisely states, each of us must determine that "course which occasion and conscience demand." That is Chi Omega Sisterhood at her best.
