✨🌸🦋 eVeRLasTiNg fRiEnDsHip 🦋🌸✨ Nah the actual point of greek life is for the massive corporate organizations that run them to make huge profits each year. That’s literally why they exist in this day and age. To make other people a ton of money. What’s it like? It’s like paying for the convenience of having your social life set up and mapped out for you, and for some, to have a social status and identity that they feel they are fit for. You get the chance to meet a lot of new people and there’s solid networking opportunities. You get to be a part of “something bigger.” Of course, you also get fed a ton of textbook cult mentality bs to make you happier than ever to throw thousands of dollars to literally just be part of a group and participate in its activities. It’s genius, really. Profiting off of tribalism at its finest. You have a lot of fun the first year or so, you’re automatically connected to a hundred or so people that you share a common identity with, but you usually only leave with a handful of true close friends. Most of them you’ll never talk to again. At some point after you turn 20, if you’re even mildly intelligent, you’ll realize it sucks to be a full grown ass adult governed by unpaid teenagers. Chapter ends up mainly becoming an echo chamber for people to complain and hear themselves talk. There’s always that handful that take it waaayyyyy too seriously and act like their “job” on exec is a matter of life and death. Lol. Some people (usually girls) want to convince that it’s the absolute best four years of their life. The majority of normal people will agree that it was pretty fun, but if you peak in college you’re in for a bad time after graduation. Rush week is the tackiest thing you’ll ever partake in. You’ll cringe looking back on it. The socials, homecomings, formals, parties, and tailgates are a blast though. So yeah. Pros and cons. Super expensive. I don’t regret joining. I also don’t regret dropping.
