I can't comment on what other sororities do, only what my own does. But I'll try to give you an unbiased but truthful answer. Yes, looks absolutely matter, like in every other aspect of life. It may seem superficial or shallow but the way you physically present yourself is important. Looks aren't everything, but your looks will be your first impression. And rush is all about first impressions. The way you look can tell a person a lot about yourself. Your style can give some insight into your personality. My sorority does take physical presentation into account when evaluating PNMs, but we do NOT choose PNMs solely based on looks. And I highly doubt any sorority does. Maybe some place more emphasis on looks than others, but I don't think anyone will select their members solely based on what they look like. With that being said, why are you worried? Do you feel like you're not physically attractive? There seem to be a lot of posts lately about girls claiming they're not "top tier" material but they want to be in a top tier house. Why would you want to be surrounded by girls who make you feel inadequate? I'm not saying that average looking girls shouldn't join top tier houses, but when you're worried so much about what you look like, it's only going to get worse once you're constantly surrounded by girls you think are better looking than you. Try not to worry about looks when going into rush. Looks are important, but they're not everything. This goes for the sororities too
