The dirty little secret here is that Greek housing is limited and shrinking because the administration is quick to co-opt your houses and convert them into UA facilities. This is true of both fraternities and sororities. Just a few decades ago there used to be thriving pockets of Greek housing on the row and to the north, south, and west of campus. Those former chapter houses have either been bulldozed & developed, sold, or re-purposed, and I'm not just talking about the University Medical Center area to the north. The old TKE, Fiji, SDT, Phi Sig, SK, Chi Omega, and Sigma Chi houses on or near the row are either parking lots, dorms, or offices now just to name a few. We love it when chapters get kicked off because your housing corporations are very quick to surrender properties to the UA and divest. The UA gets a deal because you develop the structures and make expensive capital improvements to them before we take them over at bargain prices. Houses can be flipped into facilities with very little structural modifications. Keeping you isolated onto Greek Row also has the added benefit of keeping you contained and limited. It's no coincidence that new colonies have zero room to build on campus. That's by design. Now all the administration has to do is sit back and wait for a new property to take over on the cheap. I know of two houses in particular that are prioritized for "re-purposing" by UA strategic real estate. In the meantime, we will let you continue your in-fighting & recklessness because you fools can't help yourselves and the properties will eventually be ours for the taking.
