It's even too difficult to make it in to ucsb or sdsu ^^ usually a 3.5 GPA and decent SAT score will only get you into limited boring Cal States. people from California come to U of A because it's a big school that's close by and has nice weather. I'm sure if all Cal students got into schools like USC, UCLA, UCSB, and SDSU they would go their but since such a small fraction of students get into those schools the rest choose schools similar to them that are easier to get into like U of A and ASU.
