Ok this could have easily been me 3 years ago writing this question. I was in your exact shoes. 2.8 gpa going into freshman year and terrified I would get dropped right off the bat after set 1. I went into recruitment really prepared with 1-2 recs for each house. I had the personality and looks to be in a good house. I had almost full schedules for each round of rush. I dropped some top tier houses because I figured they were going to drop me. And I really regret that now. (Don't do that- rank your houses by how much you like them and it will fall into place. But if you do want to maximize your chances, rank Chi O last because they are the least likely to take a grade risk.) I liked my houses during rush. I was surprised each day when I got my schedule back thinking I was going to be cut heavily or dropped all together. On house tours day, I had 2 middle tier houses, 1 bottom middle, and 1 bottom house. Going into preference round, I wanted one of the middle houses and the bottom middle house. But when I got my pref schedule I just had the bottom middle and the bottom. I ended up with a bid from the bottom house. Where I had made no connections with and didn't really like all that much. They were nice, but they didn't wow me. I really thought I would get a bid from the other house I had on pref because they told me how much they wanted me as a sister and I felt I made some genuine connections. In reality, I probably WAS really liked by them, but there were (cont'd)
