They're only doing fine there right now because up until the past year or so, Indiana participated in "bed rush" meaning they only gave out bids for the amount of spaces open in the house. Everyone was required to live in the house. So with 2000 PNMs rushing, and each sorority taking a 50-70 pledge class, there were TONS of leftover solid pnms that the unhoused sororities could pick up. Up until recent years Indiana had the most competitive rush in the country. The unhouses sororities, while bottom tier, were never short of pnms to give bids to. But other than that, I wouldn't call a bottom tier sorority "doing fine".
