Subject:
greek life on this campus: nphc

Poster Message:
Time for the truth... This is a small campus, when compared to your average state school. So if you're expecting Greek Life here to be like the movies, you're gonna have a bad time. However, we still have 26 Greek Letter dedicated to social, scholastic and philanthropic causes. AAAAAAAAND being Greek on the campus is the only 100% guarenteed way to have a great social life on this campus. That being said.... There are 4 councils of different types of fraternities and sororities: NPHC: The National Pan-Hellenic Council. Historically African-American. Consists of 4 fraternities and 3 sororities. The fraternities are Phi Beta Sigma (Sigmas), Alpha Phi Alpha (Alphas), Kappa Alpha Psi (Kappas), and Omega Psi Phi (Q Dawgs). The sororities are Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKAS), Delta Sigma Theta (Deltas) and Zeta Phi Beta (Zetas). This school has a distinct African American population, so these groups have a huge presence on campus. However, the organizations are open to any person of any race to join, if they receive a bid. The pledging process is a semester long and is extremely secretive. After the pledges have been initiated, they are revealed during something called a "probate". There have been allegations of hazing in the past, but the university has cracked down on it and now all of them are relatively non-hazing organizations.
