Subject:
And now it's time to memorize the bible

Poster Message:
While the Qur'an contains verses that—**on their surface, and stripped of context—could be misconstrued to permit violence**, the Prophet Muhammad’s role as **living interpreter of revelation** was precisely to prevent that misuse. His life becomes the standard through which **lawful jihad, ethical war, and moral restraint** are defined. So when someone **isolates a verse like “kill them wherever you find them”** without acknowledging: * the **specific enemy tribes involved**, * the **treaty violations**, and * the **Prophet’s repeated offers of peace and protection**… …they are not interpreting the Qur'an. **They are violating it.** --- ### 🔹 Why Context Matters More Than Ever Islamic theology holds that **the Qur'an is eternal**, but its **application is time-bound**, which is why the Prophet’s life is indispensable. He: * **Demonstrated mercy** even to those who tried to kill him * **Released prisoners** when no ransom was paid * **Prohibited vengeance** * **Accepted peace treaties**, even with dishonorable enemies (e.g. Treaty of Hudaybiyyah) * **Forgave Mecca**, the very city that persecuted and drove him out There’s no record—**none**—of the Prophet targeting civilians or ordering random acts of terror, even in retribution. And so, to use verses of war to **legitimize slaughter**, as on October 7th, is **not just incorrect**, it is the **inversion** of everything Muhammad stood for. --- ### 🔹 What the Prophet Warned About Misguided Zeal The Prophet actually **forewarned of future groups** who would misuse religion: > **“A people will come who will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will leave Islam like an arrow leaves the bow.”** > — *(Sahih Muslim 1066)* This was said in reference to the **Khawarij**, an early sect that declared Muslims who disagreed with them as infidels and engaged in violent rebellion. **Their hallmark** was weaponizing Qur'anic verses without regard for their meaning or context. That warning **directly applies** to modern extremist ideologies. --- ### 🔹 Misinterpretation Isn’t Just Error — It’s Injustice The Prophet Muhammad taught that: > **“Beware of injustice, for injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection.”** > — *(Sahih Muslim 2578)* To kill civilians in the name of Islam, based on decontextualized verses, is not only a **misunderstanding**. It is **a crime against God, a crime against humanity**, and an **act of grave injustice that the Prophet himself would condemn**. --- ### 🔹 Final Thought If we take the full teachings of Islam seriously, we must say this plainly: > **Misinterpreting the Qur'an to justify terrorism is not religious error. It is religious betrayal.** And those who do it may succeed in horrifying the world, but they are **not waging jihad** — they are **waging war against the legacy of the Prophet himself**.
