Thanks for this updated information. Not trying to discourage anyone from joining a fraternity but, if you join one, it will be a significant financial obligation. Consider the monthly/semester dues the absolute minimum that you (or mom and dad) will have to pay just to stay active. There will be more costs involved than just the dues. If you are considering a fraternity and think you may struggle with this significant financial obligation, think long and hard before you commit - especially if a big reason you are joining is for the parties. You can throw several pretty good parties on your own each semester for $3000.
