the reason why where you live is important is because it shows you know people/knew enough about UT Greek life to figure out where you would meet people and be around hopefully fellow Greek sisters! It doesn’t sound like a lot but a huge part of my Greek experience was making best friends with the girls in my house who lived in the same dorm as me. My best bet would be to reach out to anyone currently in Greek life you know at Texas or to make friends and go out during orientation with girls in sororities. Getting on the radar of rush team is so a important - especially if you are OOS! We take OOS girls but unless you have an absolutely incredible personality that stands out during formal rush most girls will not know you! If you have someone who can stand up and say they’ve heard good things about you or have been told out to look for you, it can make a world of difference. Recommendations and knowing alumni or girls going through is such a huge help because too often there are amazing girls going through who don’t know anyone and it makes it so hard to take a chance on someone random vs someone you went to camp/school with for years!!
