www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2015/03/suspended_u-m_fraternity_will_pay_but_questions_430k_treetops_resort_bill.html The above link is the latest update regarding the $430,000 damages to the Ski Resort by both SAM and SDT. The Articel stated.....A representative for the dismissed University of Michigan chapter of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity said that remarks from Treetops Resort's management alleging the fraternity would not pay for the damages it caused during a ski weekend are unfounded. Alan Greenberg - the president of the non-profit corporation SAM-SI Corp., which owns the house Sigma Alpha Mu students live in - said that he has been part of every correspondence between the lawyer representing SAM and the lawyer representing Treetops, and that his organization never refused to pay for damages. Additionally, Greenberg said that Barry Owens, the manager at Treetops, never notified SAM representatives that damages had grown to about $430,000, which Owens recently told The Ann Arbor News. "We have never been told that by their attorney. They never told us $430,000. He told us that there was approximately $250,000 in hard costs, meaning invoices and bills that they had to pay, and they didn't include any soft costs like lost revenue," Greenberg said. "We were shocked by that number because Mr. Owens announced several times in public and to the media that the costs were about $125,000." U-M will not recognize SAM as a fraternity for a period of four years as a result of the sanctions issued the organization, and the sorority Sigma Delta Tau has been placed on disciplinary suspension for a period of two years. The fraternity cannot participate in any Greek Life activities and cannot recruit new members during the period of separation, and the fraternity is also restricted from living in the SAM house or participating in any organized functions or fundraisers on or off campus.
