Preference is a bit different. If you attend Preference for a chapter, you are automatically on the bid list for that chapter. No more releases are made by the chapter. They submit a list of everyone that comes to Preference in the order that they like them. YOU will do the same. If you only have 1 party for preference, then you either drop out of recruitment or put them down on your list. If you have 2 chapters for Preference, you say which is your 1st and which is your 2nd choice. Then Bid Matching attempts to match you with your first choice, if possible. The PNM is given every opportunity to get their 1st choice. You must list all chapters where you attend preference to be ASSURED of a bid. It happens every year that girls refuse to list both chapters. They call this a SUICIDE. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. If you attend only 1 chapter for preference and list them on your card, then you are assured of a bid. Panhellenic will set a QUOTA or the maximum number of new members that the chapters can have. If your favorite chapter fills up with their QUOTA of new members before they reach you on their priority list, then Panhellenic will see if you match with your 2nd choice. As long as you "play by the rules" and "maximize your options", you will get a bid to one of your preferenced chapters.
