My opinion and I haven’t fact checked this…Chapel Hill needs to focus on building new dorms before even thinking about expanding sorority housing. Most national sororities aren’t going to invest in bigger houses here because our chapter sizes are smaller and not as profitable as the large chapters at other schools. Plus, zoning in Chapel Hill is always a hurdle. It’s also worth noting that the last new dorm on campus was built back in something like 2006, and the next one isn’t expected until 2028. Meanwhile, the UNC system is clearly putting more money into other campuses to keep more students in-state and within the system—which means Chapel Hill keeps getting pushed down the list.
