The recruitment process is exactly the same but the difference is that it now takes place the first week of school so it evens the playing field a bit. When sorority members and pnm's were on campus together for an entire semester before rush, there was a lot of rushing going on before rush, and a fair amount of smack talking other chapters, socializing with pnm's so as to mislead them into thinking they were going to get a bid (whether intentional or not), undue influence from frat boys on pnm's, undue influence from pnm's on other pnm's and from pnm's on sorority members about other pnm's, gossip, rumors, etc. Those influences aren't in play with fall recruitment.
