Recruitment is as competive as you make it. As long as you are willing to go in with an open mind and go through the entire process, you most likely will get a bid. Will it be to your favorite, top tier sorority - maybe, maybe not. The girls who get released or dropped entirely from the process are usually girls who made a negative name for themselves in the fall or are juniors or seniors. Will you get dropped from sororities during the process? yes. Very very few people are invited back to all the sororities they rank as their top choices. Plan to get cut at least once. If you end up having to attend a party at a group you chose to rank lower on your list, do so graciously. They wanted you back for a reason. Every group has the ability to cut PNMs - even "lower tier" sororities. Now if you think you are only going to accept bids from Zeta, Phi Mu and Sigma (in no specific order) plan on your recruitment being way more competitive. These groups are more selective because they can be - I think its a safe guess that all PNMs want to go back to at least one of these groups.
