Ummm, that’s not the most helpful advice - TBH - and it’s pretty exclusionary. Sororities and fraternities do not exist solely for the well-to-do college students! Besides which, ANY sharp incoming freshman will be mindfully aware of all potential costs, housing and otherwise. That goes for whether Daddy is footing the bill or not! And for those on a tight budget, if you find yourself in a pinch, there are resources available, usually through your sorority alumnae association. In my experience (I’m an alum) good organizations prioritize good people - not the bottom line.
