Subject:
Why sorority rankings don’t actually matter

Poster Message:
At UVA, sorority pledge classes are pretty decently sized. It takes about a year to even learn all of the names of the girls in your pc, let alone get to know everyone. Because of this, friend groups are formed, and in general the sorority is split between the “cool” groups and the “weird” groups. Certain friends groups overlap, while others do not. From my experiences, the girls in the “lower” sororities but in the “cool” groups are a lot more fun than the “weird” girls in “middle” sororities. I guess it is all about your preferences, but I think its a lot better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond. Obviously choose the sorority where you feel the most at home, however even if you think you are a little bit too cool for your sorority, trust me, there are other girls in your sorority that are too cool for it as well. Many sororities at UVA that are historically lower houses have friend groups that still go to top tier frats and are such cool, beautiful girls. I know plenty of girls who preffed top houses and and got stuck with their second choice middle/lower house, and are now so thankful that they did. Moral of the story: every sorority has cool girls, and every sorority has weirdos. I think it is better to be cool in your lower sorority, than be weird in your middle sorority (or middle/upper). Your friend group is 100% what makes your sorority experience, not your sororities reputation.
