I find it amusing to see the argument against top tier sororities and using them as for networking and contacts in the future. If using contacts is what gets you into a top tier sorority in the first place, wouldn't that naturally translate into your life after college? Isn't "dirty rushing" the equivalent of using the "old boys' network"? It's a competitive world, we all worked hard to get into UVA in the first place. I had UVA alumni write letters of recommendation for me. It makes sense to me to aim as high as I can. The popularity of this thread tells me other girls sre thinking the same thing. I work hard and I play hard. I want to be part of an awesome sisterhood that likes to do the same. I'm not looking for just a social club for four years. For me, this is a lifetime commitment. So for me, a sorority's national reputation is important. The top tiers tend to have the strongest nationals.
