Hi I’m so sorry if this week has been confusing :( I know it’s a pretty roller coaster and personal experience. Supporting Delta Sigma is largely to do with solidarity and supporting sisterhood over bureaucracy. Delta Sigma was formerly the Sigma chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi - a few years ago AOII nationals started taking over housing contracts of all AOII houses, with little or no compensation to the original house owners. This caused a lot of bureaucratic tensions between the Sigma chapter and their Nationals, including their Nationals barring them from recruitment days before recruitment started and ending with their charter pulled. I remember that year there were SO many AOIIs that were recruitment counselors and involved in PHC and they still dedicated all their time to support PNMs to find their new home even though theirs wasn’t allowed to recruit. It was just a no brainer when they were chartered as a local sorority to give them the same PHC love and support. I hope you don’t feel punished because of this decision a few years back, because they are a wonderful group of women. It is an important part of your decision, joining a national organization or not, but Delta Sigma is a wonderful organization and their response and PHC’s response to AOII that year was truly the most proud I have been to be a PHC woman :) I hope you find a home that makes you feel that proud this week.
