Every chapter will have different policies on what benefit there is for someone who is a legacy or has a letter of rec. most of the time it might get you through the first round of recruitment but after that it’s still possible to not be invited back for a certain round or not get a bid despite being a legacy. As far as reputations, don’t worry about that stuff. Just go through recruitment and try to find a chapter that feels like the right fit for you, whether or not you’re a legacy.
