Hi, yes. Sorority girls generally hang out with girls from other sororities, but the likelihood of you meeting a ton of new girls in other houses and getting close with them through sorority life alone is slim. It’s mainly through hanging out at specific frats and meeting through parties but most importantly getting to know people outside of the structure of Greek life. So in classes, on your floor, other clubs and orgs, etc. I know girls with friends in all tiers of houses, but this doesnt mean they’re aren’t a handful of girls in each house that look down upon other sororities. I still remember sitting in the dining hall after rush and seeing a girl in my PNM group who was super nice to me gleefully read through the rankings posted on this site and remark on how happy she was she got into a “top house.” I’m sure this girl is a good person, but rankings are toxic and can really close people off from ever socializing with others based on a status that only really matters for your first two years of college. But I can’t say this is a mindset unique to Greek life. Think of all the times we cut people off who are different than us in general. You’ll never be able to truly escape the tier or rank system but as long as you are open to meeting new people, you can make friends in other houses and be accepted most of the time
