"Real" is only what can be proven. This site is simply a site where people post positive, or in many cases hateful things that they would be embarrassed to even let people know they wrote such things. As for reality, many top sororities have legacies, and no, not all legacies get in for various reasons. Maybe their moms graduated from small/other colleges when the were in that particular sorority so they are unknowns to this school's alumni base, or maybe someone within the sorority does not like them, or maybe they just want that girl that has no connection (it is rare for some of the groups to just go outside and get someone with no link, but it does happen, after all, if you only take legacies you never get any new blood in!) Like the posters said earlier, just try for good grades, participate in school activities and hopefully you'll get the nod. I have known many, many outstanding girls, some legacies and some not, with a resume that looked superior to most and they were overlooked. However, most pledged other groups and those groups were fortunate to get those wonderful girls. It really does work out if you give all the groups a chance. Yes, if you are legacy and get dropped because there were just so many going through, it is tough, but if you get the chance...pledge another! My BF did just that and she has more fun than mine does! We both love out sororities, but she has closer friends in hers. Hey, nothing wrong with having good friends in all the groups!
