"Success" gave the best answer - you can't force connections and the truth is that for girls who come here with no connections, you will likely have a more challenging rush. Doesn't mean you can't find a home - you can - but I think it's good to know this in advance. I've known girls who had no connections, came from far OOS and then were shocked when they were dropped. Better to know now and get everything else in order - including recs. Get them and get them in early. Even you think you don't know alums, you can find them - parents' friends, teachers, etc. Many girls who don't know much about rush here don't realize how important they are.
