PNM, recruitment dress code is completely different than every day life in a sorority. No house requires spray tans and certain clothing and certain makeup every day of the year, but every house requires it for recruitment simply because we want to look put together and our best. During the year, you can dress however you want, put on no makeup or a full face of makeup, wear sweats or a dress, curl your hair or put it in a bun, paint or nails or don't bother dealing with them, etc. Almost every house has rules about letters such as not drinking in them, trying to at least look put together in letters, etc. Except for SK, I haven't heard of sororities having too strict of rules when it comes to everyday appearances. And if you aren't wearing letters, you can do whatever the hell you want. They just don't want a bunch of girls with greasy buns in oversized sweats representing the chapter, because someone could see 10 made up, put together girls in XO shirts but will only remember the greasy haired one at the end of the day, and image does matter here in the SEC. There's a difference between not being yourself, and just trying to be a better version of yourself. I promise most sororities are full of down to earth, normal girls just like yourself. I walk into my house and everybody is lounging around, laughing, watching TV, studying, etc. We're normal and fun girls, I promise.
