Vanderbilt is a private school that's way more expensive, and they're not bound by the legislature to accept in state kids from every corner of the state like UF as a condition for funding. And Vanderbilt, being an elite private school, is kinda the odd man out in the SEC. they really don't have the fan base or tradition like blue chip SEC schools like Florida and Alabama. They really shouldn't be in the SEC.
