As a freshman you may not be acquainted with many on-campus students. This means the first time a sorority chapter meets you will be during a very limited time frame. Garnering recs during in Spring/early Summer before recruitment from initiated sorority women whom you know can be an easy way of introduction to a chapter and gives you the bonus of having met/impressed sorority members long prior to regular formal recruitment. Each NPC group has their own private criteria toward rec importance, so do what you can to get them and keep an open mind toward accepting all recruitment invitations from any NPC group.
