Guide to Richmond: 1). Y’all frosh always wilding, this is gonna be your guide to greek life 2). What are off campus organizations? Sig Chi, SAE, and Theta Chi were all once recognized organizations but were each kicked off campus(“shut down” by their nationals + the school) but still operate as fraternities anyway. As far as students are concerned these orgs are just as legitimate as any others. 2). How do you get a bid/rush? Simple. Go to as many fraternities as you can and get to know brothers at partys/ but mostly rush events. Make sure to talk to rush chairs and express your interest on being on the list. You will quickly realize where you want to be / fit in. Trust your gut. 4). REMEMBER: Greek life on our campus is the major social scene and can be very clicky. Make sure you join an org because you like the members, not just that the partys are fun. These are the people you are going to spend the majority of your college experience with, so make sure you actually like the people in the organization before accepting a bid. 5). Be yourself and know your place. Rushing can be very awkward at times given the power imbalance between organizations and potential new members. Nothing an org hates more than rushes that are overly confident/disrespectful, you are not a brother so don’t act like one. 6). Have fun. Coming to college is a super exciting new change in your life and joining a frat/sorority is a great way to enhance your college experience. But certainly not required to enjoy your college experience.
