1. Kappa Sig had a big membership review and went through a decline for a while. Their reputation of being "try hards" comes from the fact that during this recovery period they slipped in popularity and seemed desperate to be considered top tier again. Phi Psi and Sigma Chi still have better reputations but I could see Kappa Sig overtaking TKE in the top tier. 2. Top tier girls want more options than just Phi Psi, Sigma Chi and TKE. Three fraternities over four years in college get can get stale for some people.
