In reference to above, people need to take into account peoples expectations during and right after recruitment. Sororities in mid tier (like chi o fuzzy and zeta) sometimes have more girls drop immediately because many of the new members also pref at houses like aphi and piphi. When these girls get bids to mid instead of top they drop before giving it a try (leading to COB) because they think they're too good for it and are disappointed. Similarly, bottom tiers usually pref with other bottom tiers and lower mids. Thats why if your options are say axo, dz and aopi; Axo is the "best" house that you have left and when you get a bid, you're less likely to drop right away because you are glad to be there. Im saying this is a crappy attitude to have as a new member because no sorority is below you for any reason at all but it is unfortunately a reality that sororities in that upper mid to mid tier range have to deal with. Informal does not really affect tiers because of these factors.
