I can't tell if the original poster shared the question for the sole purpose of causing us to turn on ourselves or if that person is just a Greekrank associate bent on stirring up drama b/c honestly, why does anyone post here if not to tear down other organizations and/or pretend to be someone they aren't? Anyway, there is nothing you can learn here that is more helpful than personal observation. Go through recruitment. Find your people. Core Four is not a thing at NYU. Aside from perceptions of a relatively small group of people, the differences between the organizations is minuscule. All NPC orgs offer the same potential experiences, at least structurally, and while reputation is a real thing, it's not that dramatic at NYU, and people outside of Greek life don't care at all. This isn't an SEC school. Your social life & future employment opportunities will not be defined or damaged by the greek letters you wear. Each and every sorority looks for people who will positively represent their organization. Wealth matters to the extent you can afford to be a member, and looks matter to the extent you don't go around looking like you don't care about yourself (b/c how can you care about an organization you join if you don't care about yourself)? Ask yourself - if a group doesn't care that they are only recruiting hot girls with toxic personalities for the sake of a reputation with a bunch of sub-par fraternity boys (b/c lets face it NYU's fraternity scene is dismal), why would you want to be a part of that? It's not that complicated. The sororities at NYU are really great little communities in a big city & you will make meaningful friendships if you put forth the effort to make those connections, regardless of what anyone else things. You honestly can't go wrong with any of them if YOU feel a connection with the existing members. Get off this site and make notes of the people you, personally, observe from Greek life and decide how you feel about them.
