No, your chances of getting a bid are basically the same whether you pref at one, two, or three houses as long as you list ALL of them and don't leave any out. So if you preffed at AB, CD, and FG, you can't just list CD and FG because you don't like AB. If you just preffed at CD, then you just need to list CD. If you aren't high enough on their bid list you will probably be a quota addition. It's possible to come out of that situation without a bid but not likely. There is a whole system set up to make sure that doesn't happen to people who maximize their options.
