It is called "recruitment" because the sororities are recruiting potential members, the key word being 'potential'. That's all you are until there's a bid in your hand. Same thing when a company is looking to hire, they express interest to get you to engage with them so they can decide if you're a fit with the company, it's not a promise they are going to hire you. Same thing with dating someone, it's not a promise of marriage. Not getting the bid or the job or the proposal or whatever is not being a loser, but anonymously posting on a stupid website out of disappointment or jealousy definitely is.
