there are certain things outside of dues that you have to buy or feel the need to buy. for example, for recruitment there are outfit themes that change every year and are required. so you cant get out of buying those. they are fairly strict outfits so you all look uniformed. for date parties there are themes and not everyone has a safari fit or a cowgirl fit in their closet. philo shirts are typicall $15-$25 and many participants love copping those... its expensive straight up. you can get around it by buying cheaper outfits, not buying philo shirts... regardless its still expensive. its not just dues for the sorority/philanthropy, there is an undeniable fun aspect that is just as costly
