I was looking through this page curious what gets posted because I know girls interested in rushing look on here and I wanted to share my experience with Greek life. First of all, half of these posts are just ratings which are mostly wrong, but I think it’s weird that sororities are even rated at all considering each one is made up of hundreds of girls who are completely different. Some girls in my sorority are drop dead gorgeous only wear Gucci and others wear T-shirt’s and no makeup and still add an incredibly important part to our sisterhood and it wouldn’t be the same without all these kinds of people! When I went through rush, I wanted to be in a top house, but after a year in a sorority that isn’t, I learned that this was the best thing that could have happened. I ended up not getting that house and joined a middle tier house that at first it wasn’t my top choice but that I have grown to love. My middle tier house (if you need to rate it) is filled with girls who are all different and offer different viewpoints that have helped me to grow as a person. While other girls in top houses have told me they feel intimidated by the older girls, since the first day I joined my house it has always felt like a sisterhood. I have a real connection with the girls in my house and it’s always been more about true connection than anything else. When I first joined, girls high up on council would always say yes to studying together / getting food / or even going out which made me feel so welcomed and apart of my house. In other sororities, until you are initiated you can’t even go out with your sisters or your big! I have found all of my die hard best friends in my sorority, and so many of them have similar stories to the one I am sharing right now. I am so thankful for my sorority filled with individuals who inspire me and support me, and my advice to anyone rushing is to not worry if you get dropped by what you thought was your top choice! There are so many different kinds of girls in each house and if you make effort with your sorority and be involved then you will find your people! Keep an open mind during rush and remember that any house that chooses you, has girls who see something in you and want to build relationships with you, and whether that be a “top house” or what others consider the worst one, that’s still an honor that people want to take the chance to involve you in their sisterhood!
