On a different note from that guy^ Yes there are more parties and social activities to do but there are benefits. You network a lot more and make a ton of connections, you're invited to events ou wouldn't know about as a GDI and you're more likely involved more on campus activities. It looks significantly better to have it on a resume and that you've raised money and volunteered for organizations and if you become an exec for your chapter you learn a lot of experience on running different things. I would say it's definitely worth it
