There are not enough hours in the day to complete all the work assigned to college students and this forces a lot of us to withstand all-nighters fueled with coffee and kickstarts, but there are healthier ways to get a little extra energy. Here are some products and tips that can give you the energy you need to complete that seven-pager and make you more productive.

Drink Water
I’m sure you’ve heard this one before, but its too important to leave out. 60% of the human body is made of water yet students are notorious for being dehydrated. Water not only helps transport nutrients in the body, helps with digestion, and regulates body temperature, but a cold glass of water is the easiest way to wake yourself up. Most places will even give you a glass of iced water for free.

Eat small meals every four hours
If you’re busy and stressed out it is not a good idea to skip meals. Yet, that is such a common thing for college students to do. To keep your energy up through the day, try eating small meals every four hours. Be sure to eat healthy foods like hard boiled eggs or nuts. Don’t forget your fruits and veggies too. Put good stuff in your body and you will get good stuff out.
Peppermint or Spearmint gum
Did anyone else have an elementary school teacher who gave their class gum during tests? Both the smell and taste of mint can help keep you alert and the action of chewing also helps keep you awake.
Regular exercise
We all use the excuse that we don’t have time to go to the gym, but regular exercise boosts productivity and energy. When you first leave the gym you may be a bit tired, but after just a couple of days you will quickly feel the effects on your energy level. All it takes is twenty to thirty minutes a day to raise your heart rate and get your blood flowing.
