Thanksgiving break: the wonderful week filled with food, family, and no classes. Many of you are back in your hometown after several stressful weeks away at college. You have more free time than you have had in a while, but how should you spend it? Below are a few practical ways to spend your Thanksgiving break.
Eat
Sleep You’re exhausted, stressed, and just worn out from this semester, but, luckily, you have a week with no class and (hopefully) no homework. Your only expectations for the week are to eat and spend time with family, so why not use this time to catch up on all the sleep you missed out on this semester?
Get caught up (or ahead) on homework
If you’re behind on homework, use this time to get caught up. You want to finish this semester strong, but it’s difficult to do that when you’re several days behind. You’ll thank yourself when you’re not trying to learn two weeks of material the day before your final. If you are caught up and feel bored or ambitious, you can use this time to get a jumpstart on the upcoming material.
Hang out with old friends and family
You may already be planning on spending time with your family this holiday, but don’t forget to spend time with your friends! Most of your friends from high school should be back in town, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get back together.
Relax School is stressful and can be very exhausting. You survived midterms but are now anxiously waiting for finals. This break couldn’t be at a better time. When you’re just about to crack from the pressure, you get a few days off for Thanksgiving to spend however you wish. And how should you spend it? The best thing you can do is relax. Give yourself time to unwind and destress. Nobody performs well under stress, so be sure to spend the break relaxing and finish the semester strong.
Be thankful
It’s Thanksgiving, so the most important thing to do during this time is be thankful. It can be easy to forget that, especially with all the food, your family running around, and trying to squeeze hanging out with friends, eating food, and relaxing into a short amount of time. Make an extra effort to give thanks and show your gratitude this Thanksgiving. Giving thanks is what the holiday is named for, after all.
