Mean Girls: College Edition

Mean Girls

With the hit classic film streaming once again on Netflix accounts everywhere, it seemed time to make a few comparisons. Here are the top five ways that university life is eerily similar to the movie Mean Girls. If you haven’t seen the film, I’d highly recommend checking it out before reading any further.

You’ve got to fake it to make it.
Each one of us has had those days. Maybe you just can’t seem to get out of bed on Friday morning to make it to your 8 a.m. lecture. You have to think of an excuse to send your professor so he/she doesn’t think you’re doing whatever that you’re actually doing. That brings us to the old fake sick excuse, perfected by Karen.

Starting out can be overwhelming.
Maybe you’re failing a class, or getting used to life with a roommate. Either way, we’ve all had times when we just wanted some help from our parents. Don’t worry, it will pass eventually.
Listen to your stomach.
Here’s some more great advice from Karen in regards to college life. Not everything in life can be solved by that 2 a.m. burrito, but hey, that shouldn’t stop you from trying.
There will always be “that one girl”.
Sooner or later you’ll probably run into those girls with an expensive taste. We’re not saying she’s spoiled, but she also doesn’t have to eat ramen every night. Just remember, jealousy never looks good on anyone.
Stay positive.
There will be negative people wherever you go and college is no different. They might say your major is a waste of time, or maybe that your GPA isn’t good enough. No matter what, you’ve just got to keep your chin up and keep moving forward. Take some advice from Kevin G.
