College guys typically devote a lot of their time trying to find two things--a job and a significant other. By job I mean campus job, summer gig, internship, or post-grad employment. By significant other I mean anything ranging from a one night stand to wife material. Have you ever noticed how the process of going about finding either one of these two can be so similar?

1. A job interview is basically like a date, right? Both parties are trying to determine if this is a good fit. They're judging you on attire, major, maturity, and sociability, among other things.

2. They both can make you nervous enough to say stupid things.

3. They can both set very unrealistic goals as to who they want.

4. A promotion at a job is kind of like getting engaged after dating someone.

5. Sometimes, when you look for a job, it could be long-term, maybe you're trying to have it last a year or two, maybe even just a summer, or maybe even just for a weekend. You might be trying to stay longer because you might get more benefits. Sound familiar?

6. They can both make you really happy and shower you with appreciation and benefits.

7. Or they can both make you really miserable, with nothing going for you but despair.

8. If you're not happy with your job or you want something more satisfying, you try to find another.
