While Domestic Violence Awareness is the national philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega, the Zeta Tau chapter at Villanova University is especially excelling at promoting the important cause.  According to Villanova’s website, the chapter raised over $7,000 in one year for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. During the fall semester, the Alpha Chi Omega women at Villanova host Domestic Violence Awareness Week in order to educate others on the topic, raise money for their philanthropy, honor those who have been affected by domestic violence, and support women through personal stories and fun activities. Further, in 2013 the chapter received a grant from the Alpha Chi Omega foundation to invite Andrea Cooper—the mother of a young woman who committed suicide after experiencing domestic abuse—to tell of her daughter’s story. The event, formally known as Kristin’s Story to Alpha Chi Omega chapters across the nation, had over 800 attendees that year at Villanova. You go girls!
