After you leave the parent nest, you are pretty much on your own as far as what you eat. With limited time, lack of cooking experience, and the occasional late night craving your meals in college can get interesting to downright comical. Here are the 10 types of meals you will find yourself eating in college.
Dining hall special
Everyone knows this one. It gets old quick.
Almost like Mom’s
Every once in a while you borrow a recipe from Mom (or find one online), go and buy the ingredients, and actually hit it out of the park. This is the type of meal you want when you’re trying to impress someone. It’s even better when someone makes you one of these meals.
Failed attempt
There is a flip side to the “Almost like Mom’s” meal…that’s when you attempt a recipe and you fail miserably. Just remember, cooking can be trial and error.
Someone else’s food
Sometimes you “forget” what food is yours in the fridge and “accidentally” eat something tasty that your roommate was saving. Whoops.
Catered meal
This is better than the dining hall. You get these at formals and banquets.
Junk food splurge
This is when you eat chips and a candy bar as a meal. Or perhaps just 3 bowls of Lucky Charms. We all do it.
Forgot to eat
Between your school work and extracurriculars…sometimes you just forget to eat. Sometimes you just have better things to do than eat.
Late night homemade
This can get interesting…and often overlaps with the “Failed Attempted”. The difference is, at 3am you just don’t care. This is also an instance when you experiment with combinations you normally wouldn’t try. Late night purchased
As opposed to trying to make your own late night meal, college towns often have the best late night eats in the world. These are the meals you’ll be craving in your post-grad life. Parents visit
Maybe the best college meal of them all…this is when your parents come to visit and you get a free meal at a respectable restaurant.
