Getting sick of Toga socials or Athlete and Mathlete Socials? Do you think that you have been to just about every possible theme party that college has to offer? It is time we all started getting a little more creative and began coming up with some of our own original ideas. Here is a list of the best social themes that you likely have never heard of that you have to try this school year.
I’m glad I’m not.
For this theme you make your best costume for some one or something that you are glad you are not. Some ideas are to dress up as your rival fraternity, a tampon, pregnant, or Lindsay Lohan. The ideas are endless. Just Fill in the blank: I’m glad I’m not __________.
80s Lady or Pageant Baby?
For this theme you get to decide if you are a 80s lady of neon leg warmers and multi colored work out clothes? Or are you a prim and proper pageant baby? Complete with a tiara? For the guys are you the pageant escort or the work out instructor?
Music Genre
Here is your chance to show your own personality. You get decide what your favorite type of music is and dress to fit the stereotype. Love Rap? Throw on some baggy clothes and tons of bling. Country fan? All flannel everything, and top it off with a cowboy hat.
Movie Theme
We all take Halloween as a time to dress up as (sluttier) versions of our favorite characters. Why not make it into a social theme? Get a group of sisters or brothers together and go as your favorite cast i.e. Ghostbusters or The Breakfast Club. Not one to go with a group costume? Go as Ferris Bueler or Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. This is your chance to embrace your inner actress or actor spirit.
You Are What You Drink
This one you have to be a little creative and pick the right type of drink. Is your favorite alcohol Captain Morgan? Looks like you get to dress up as a pirate. Drinking Screwdrivers all night? Come dressed as a tool man or construction worker. Embrace your inner animal spirit and drink Grey Goose and come dressed as a goose.
It Used To Be Cool
Remember all those hideous fashion trends we used to think were so fetch? Well here is your chance to rock them once again. Come adorned in your favorite overalls and scrunchies or find your best MC Hammer pants.
Finders Keepers
For this one you don’t get to decide what you wear. Have the fraternity/sorority you are mixing with come up with a list of costume ideas (i.e. tinkerbell, Q-Tip man, Batman, ect) and put them all in a hat. Once everyone has drawn a costume that is what they get to come dressed as.
Pin-Ups and Patriots
This one may seem pretty self-explanatory the girls dress up as pin-up girls (think Bettie Page) and guys come dressed up as Patriots (if you haven’t seen the movie The Patriot now would be a good time to watch it).
Future Presidents and Fine First Ladies
Guys wear suits, American flag Lapen Pins, ect. Girls wear classy dresses. You can get into the theme more by having people campaign their election throughout the night and let everyone vote throughout the night.
Jungle Book
You can either come dressed as characters from the Jungle Book or come in your favorite animal print. To make it next level you can serve Jungle Juice.
