What led to a dying greek life @RU

by:

If we just take a look at the last 10 years, it is apparent why Greek life is in shambles: besides 2023, only 2015 saw no changes in the frat houses
2023-2024 PSK (New)
2022-2023 PiKapp (SigEp/Sig Chi) DPhi (TDX) Sig Chi (DU)
2021-2022 SigEp/Sig Chi (SAM)
2020-2021 TDX (Phi Mu) Phi Mu (PiKapp)
2019-2020 Chi Phi (SDT) SDT (KSig) DU (Chi Phi) PiKapp (Sig Kap) AGD (Phi Delt)
2018-2019 SAM (Skull) Chi Phi (Sig Chi)
2017-2018 ZPsi/Chi Phi (SigEp)
2016-2017 AEPi (ZBT) Phi Mu (Phi Sig) Phi Sig (TDX)
2015-2016
2014-2015 ZBT (New) SigEp (ZPsi) DG (AXO)
2013-2014 Phi Psi (Sig Kap) Sig Kap (AEPi) DKE (DG)

Ofc, you can imagine the mergers going crazy in this time.
Hopefully now we can settle down a bit and fix the problems and stay out of trouble.

Another way to look at it;
52, 21U had 4 frats/srats in it
46U, 40H 3
That’s a lot of switching for a single property

Only 5 of the fraternal properties have ownership issues.
-SAM and AXP are kicked off and instead PiKapp and AGD have them, probably for a long time though.
-Theta Chi owns its house but can’t letter it b/c they’re on suspension rn. However, since they didn’t cooperate with the school, the suspension might become permanent and the house could be lost.
-Sigma Chi sued their landlord in 2017 who didn’t want to house them. They’re back and recognized now, but they don’t own the house and it’s not currently lettered.
-SDT’s house is owned by Kappa Sig, who’s back on campus, so SDT will inevitably lose it unless they previously signed a long term lease agreement

Theta Chi kids have signed 49 for ‘24-‘25. They might be able to get a year after that too, perhaps not even. Whoever that is left claiming to be in it will merge out and the house will be leased to a sorority. Then, after like 10 years, the sorority will find a new home when the next fraternity is kicked; those kicked kids will go on to refound theta chi and will just rebrand and move into 49. Chi Phi did this exact same thing lol

49 Mine Street is already flagged by the fire marshal. When he comes for his yearly frat house fire inspection, he’s going to fine them for all sorts of boarding house violations. The school will not defend these guys against the crazy fines, so the only way theta chi alumni will be able to pay the fines is by selling the house. Just wait in May 2024 when Dean A sends out the email to IFC/Panhel that a house opened up. I think OFSA is going to push for AXO to get dibs when that happens
