Why do sophomores get cut? And would I get into any house as a junior?

Because they have less time in the house (pay fewer dues) and it creates a discontinuity in a primarily freshman pledge class. Most if not every house will take sophomores (especially transfers), few houses take juniors. Your best shot of joining as a junior would be as a transfer but at that point you're going to be a lot older than ur PC so you'd probably be better off not joining a house at all.

Pretty much all houses take a few sophomores in each pledge class but it's much harder for them to get a bid unless they have a lot of friends (aka influence) in a certain house that they're going for. This isn't always true but its usually the norm.
