fraternity reps iii

by: Honest Unbiased

Due to everyone requesting for me to make a new Fraternity Reps post, here's the new and updated list! Sorry it took so long. I posted the top 17 fraternities because I don't know anything about the others, so I apologize if your fraternity isn't listed. Good luck to all of those going through rush this summer! Hope this helps!

FIJI-
Pros: Known as the best of the "involved" fraternities and debatably the best on campus. Note that Fiji would be terrible at other schools, but Auburn is unique. Involvement and academic success go a long way here. They run SGA almost every year and hold positions in almost every on-campus organization. They mostly have very attractive brothers and great pull with the "involved" top sororities. They always have a very successful rush and are able to meet their quota easily.

Cons: Nobody goes to Fiji for their social life. Granted, Fiji Island is a fun week, but that is probably their only big/good party of the year. They're notorious for having debatably the worst brotherhood on campus, being way too big and having a lot of cliques/divide.

Pledge here if you're looking for a very involved fraternity, get girls easily, and get a job easily out of college.

You should mention that it's easy for Fiji to have a very successful rush when you strictly recruit from one area

Same for when you mention Sigma Nu and Beta. Its easy to rush when every kid out of Mobile(in Sigma Nus case) wants to be a Sigma Nu especially when Mobile sends a ton of kids to Auburn so that gives them plenty to choose from. Same for Beta and Birmingham and Fiji and Birmingham/Montgomery. KA has a deep alumni base who send their kids to Auburn so legacies make up half of their PC. I just think you should consider those things when you say a fraternity has an easy successful rush. Its not like youre seeing kids from random areas in AL or out of state kids dieing to be Sigma Nus, KAs, Betas, ect because where theyre from everyone doesnt go to the same fraternity

FIJI's have just as much of a chance of getting a job easily as every other member of greek life who applied themselves in college.

I'm friends with a lot of these guys. I don't get the part about cliques/divides. It's not true. When you're one of the largest (might be the largest) fraternities, not everyone is going to be everyone's best friend. Sure there are groups of friends but that is normal. Look at the sororities- same thing. They all have 175-125+ girls-they can't all be bff's with one another but that doesn't mean they are cliquey. Fiji has awesome guys!

BETA-
Pros: Best known for their great reputation with the ladies. Betas are pretty boys with fun personalities and we girls love them for it. As you could guess, they have great relations with the top sororities. Their parties are hit or miss, but are a blast when they hit. Maintain a successful rush every year and always recruit typical Beta pledge classes.

Cons: Like Fiji, they're known for their terrible brotherhood. However, this is due less to numbers and more to just being extremely cliquey. They're preppy and not southern (could be a pro if you like that), some would call them mommas boys. Also, they are stuggling financially, probably due to a very high inactive rate in the brotherhood.

Pledge here if you're looking for easy access to a pool of beautiful women and an overall fun social life.

THETA CHI-
Pros: Has quickly risen to be among the best fraternities on campus. They own the largest and nicest house in Auburn, and contrary to the common rumor, they are paying it off with ease and not struggling financially. Despite a low-key spring semester this year, they're known for their amped up social life. They throw the most parties, which are usually very fun and can be very unique (ex: Thetadega). Pull a lot from top sororities but almost every sorority hangs with them. Also, they're surprisingly involved, usually running IFC and holding positions in SGA. Have had very successful results in rush over the past few years and are likely to continue.

Cons: They have, unfortunately, maintained terrible relations with other fraternities and definitely have their fair share of haters. They used to be notorious pranksters, party crashers, and troublemakers. Many fraternities still hold grudges against them for this even though the maturity level at Theta Chi seems to have improved. This really hurts them with socials and joint parties since no fraternity wants to do anything with them. They're known for their drinking and can be classless drunks at times.

Pledge here if you're looking for a great social life with tons of house parties, involvement, and a mostly close-knit brotherhood.

Theta Chi, along with a couple other fraternities and sororities, have been getting heat on here for a while. At this point, you realize that it's a few people with grudges, and you learn take their dumb posts with a grain of salt. Theta Chis are sweet boys that are just there to have fun and don't care what others think of them. Honestly, that's how it should be!

KA-
Pros: Probably their best pro is their financial stability. They have the best alumni financial backing and by far the highest dues, allowing them to afford almost anything they want. They also own a very nice fraternity house that rivals that of Theta Chi. KA is also a very popular name at SEC schools. Their historically good name at Auburn helps them attract lots of top sorority girls, mostly freshmen, and tons of rushees. There's a bit of pledge class segregation, but overall they seem to have a pretty decent brotherhood for a fraternity of their size.

Cons: Even though they have the most money, KA is debatably the poorest social scene of the large fraternities. Old South is their only good party of the year, and even then its not all that great. The university is also banning unique aspects of Old South one by one, including the ban on the cannon firing as of this year. Their rush has also fallen dramatically within the past few years. They're able to invite a ton of rushees, but for whatever reason, the KA pledge classes have been subpar at best and not to the standard of a top fraternity. This has resulted in a decline in popularity and pull on top sorority girls. KA needs to kill it in rush this summer in order to reverse their major downtrend.

Pledge here if you're looking for a southern fraternity with a solid name, decent brotherhood, and good pull on attractive freshmen girls.

by: AuSeniorMay 20, 2015 8:07:46 PM

I think the problem behind KA's decline is how they've lost most of the values of what it meant to be a KA. For years they were the "southern gentlemen." The gentlemen aspect is all but lost, as they are now defined by rudeness and arrogance. As far as being southern, they're losing that too, bidding tons of preppy city boys along with your small town country guys.. fraternities like Sigma Nu, Theta Chi, and Farmhouse are just about as southern as KA now. Not to mention Old South is a shell of what it used to be. Basically, there's nothing special about being KA like there was years ago.

Sure, they're not the old KA, anyone can see that, but is it really such a bad thing? Times change and they're changing with it. Rushees deserve to know that it's not the same old KA that they've probably heard of, but also need to know that KA is still a great fraternity!

They bid too hard on legacies. By mid-June, their pledge class is over hallway filled because they bid every legacy and kid that has a best friend in the fraternity. It results in some good pledges, but a lot of weird ones too. They claim that they run a hard ball rush, but it's not hard to get a bid at KA if you know somebody.

by: KA rushJun 10, 2015 2:16:55 AM

They're shotgun bidding again like crazy, but worse this year. Apparently many of their brothers are unhappy with a lot of the kids they've bidded in order to get numbers. This is why KA is falling off the charts. Their rush team needs to step it up and go after quality instead of quantity.

LAMBDA CHI-
Pros: They have a cool house located near downtown, which makes it a great place if you're a bar rat. They also absorbed Sigma Chi's pledge class after they got kicked off a few semesters ago, which turned out to be a good move on Lambda Chi's part even though tons of people were critical of it. Bringing in the Sigma Chis helped jump Lambda Chi in recruitment and their last pledge class was very good. They try to throw a couple good band parties a year when they're not on probation, and they've become much more noticed among good sororities.

Cons: Lambda Chi just can't seem to stay out of trouble, hurting their social life. They were on a 2 year social probation until 2013 and they just got put back on it for making their pledges streak around Auburn. Their brothers are notorious for being douchey and starting trouble, making them pretty disliked by other fraternities and turning off a lot of girls. Some consider them a top fraternity, but they just don't have a pull on top sororities like they should.

Pledge here if you're looking for a cool house with easy access to downtown and fun social life (when not on social probation).

ATO-
Pros: ATO has just temporarily acquired Phi Delt's house on new row since they were kicked off this year. They are leasing it for 2 years or until Phi Delt comes back. This is a HUGE improvement for them since their last house was no better than a meth house. They are very involved on campus, maintain great grades, and pull some of the goody-two-shoes girls from sororities including the top ones. They usually have a lot of brothers holding positions in IFC and SGA, giving the ATO a good say on what goes on around campus and greek life.

Cons: Picture a much lesser version of Fiji and you have ATO. Though they pull some top tier sororities, ATOs typically get friend-zoned by girls because they aren't particularly attractive and they make great study buddies. They have a non-existent social life, but maybe that will change with their new house. Also, they don't recruit very well and mostly get the rejects from the top fraternities, but that also could change with their new house.

Pledge here if you're looking for a rising fraternity that is involved and has good connections.

SIGMA PI-
Pros: They have a big house on Old Row and have recently added a very nice and large party barn. They've been throwing more parties lately but usually save up for one big named artist to play at their house each semester. Their brotherhood also seems to be pretty close-knit and not as pledge class segregated.

Cons: They were a fraternity that was rising for a while but has seemed to have plateaued this year. They've been recruiting better and better classes but just can't seem to be able to recruit a top quality pledge class. Sigma Pi is also not a big name around about, resulting in little to no pull on top sororities and low to average attendance at their parties.

Pledge here if you're looking for fraternity with lots of untapped potential, a nice house, and a great brotherhood.

by: ???May 13, 2015 11:16:42 PM

You say theyre recruiting "better and better" right after you said they plateaued? That doesn't really make sense. I wouldn't say they have no pull on top soroities they just don't control one single sorority like KA controls KD, Beta/Fiji control Phi Mu, ect

by: @???May 14, 2015 3:28:21 PM

You lost credibility when you said Fiji/Beta control Phi Mu. AGD and ADPi would be their sororites. If anyone has "control" over Phi Mu it'd be Theta Chi and SAE. Even still, nobody has "control" over any sororities because they all hang out with a wide range of fraternities.

SIG EP-
Pros: If you're from the West Coast or up north, look no further. Sig Ep is mostly made up of brothers from those types of cultures and is not a southern fraternity at all. They throw tons of small parties and are religiously at the bars. Rarely do they have big parties, but they're nonetheless a wild party fraternity. They also pull some very attractive girls that are usually from similar areas of the country.

Cons: Sig Ep is cursed when it comes to big name band parties. Almost every semester, their big artist has either not shown up or cancelled on short notice. They also don't have any pull on the southern population of Auburn, which is the majority obviously. Top sororities also don't hang out with them and their house is constantly a wreck.

Pledge here if you're looking for a non-southern fraternity that likes to get wild and has a consistent social life.

PHI TAU-
Pros: Another good middle tier fraternity that has all-around good qualities. They throw a few good parties but are more of an involved fraternity. The brothers are nice and welcoming. The parties here are always average but can be considered good for a small fraternity. The brotherhood is good and they seem to be improving in recruitment.

Cons: Phi Tau has never established any strong foothold in greek life at Auburn. Their parties aren't really fun and the brothers can be weird as a result of subpar recruitment. They don't have any real pull on the sororities and the girls that hang out there are at random.

Pledge here if you're looking for a decent all around fraternity with nice brothers and some good involvement on campus.

DELTA SIG-
Pros: They've had a couple of good pledge classes recently and are throwing more parties. They're trying to establish themselves as one of the party fraternities and seem to be doing a good job with it. None of their parties are that good or have big turnouts, but at least they're consistently throwing lots of them. They also have a smaller, but nice house to host them at.

Cons: Though they throw lots of parties, they aren't a big enough name to bring in large crowds. Their house its sometimes easy to miss because its surrounded by vegetation and shadowed by Theta Chi's huge house. They don't pull any top sororities or many girls for that matter. They're on the right track but there's lots of room for improvement.

Pledge here if you're looking for a smaller fraternity that throws lots of parties.
