University of South Carolina fraternity was suspended by its national office after the death of a student early Wednesday morning. "The Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Coroner's office are investigating the death of the student, who was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Coroner Gary Watts said the student's body was found around 10:30 a.m. at a home off-campus. Officers say the death is suspicious, but there were no signs of foul play or traum." The student has not been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. The university issued a statement offering their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the deceased. The national office for the fraternity issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying the USC chapter is on administrative suspension, and has ceased all operations for now. They add that the fraternity is cooperating with investigators. "The fraternity's thoughts and prayers are with the family of this young man and the brothers of Xi Chapter," the group said in a statement.
