QS World University Rankings: Michigan: #1 Public School in America State: Does not crack top ten. Below Ohio State. BELOW OHIO STATE. As an out of stater from the West, no one would ever dream of going to State outside of Michigan unless they have family connections. Michigan is the dream for a lot of out of state kids, connected or not.
