I have gotten admitted to the University of Alabama and I really want to join a sorority. A girl from the same town as me went here and rushed. According to her story she didn't get into any of the "Top Tier" sororities because she wasn't from the South. I guess I am just wondering if being from California is a disadvantage?

She didn't into a "Top Tier" group because she didn't know any members.
Question is - is she happy with the sorority she got?
Despite so-called tiers, all the sororities at Alabama are among the top chapters in their national organizations.
And the "lower tier" sororities do the same things the "top tier" groups do - party, work together on projects, philanthropy projects....oh, you weren't thinking of that.
Yes, they have swaps with fraternities, get dates with cute guys and get married.
